What’s wrong with the way we do it now?
Put all the information in one comprehensive catalogue and let the prospective student find what they want. Print more than we will need, it’s cheaper to throw away the surplus than have to do a reprint, and respond to all enquiries with the same brochure.
In fact this traditional approach has been dictated by the technology that’s been available to us, offset litho, where the cost per copy reduces the more you print. Digital print technology has never been seriously considered as an alternative because it is more expensive than litho when printing like for like, once you pass a relatively low threshold.
But if we think about the enquiring student and what they are looking for wouldn’t we do it a different way?
The development of electronic content warehousing systems that can contain marketing text and images, combined with the construction of a set of variable data rules and the recent improved quality of digital print technologies, creates the opportunity to develop a powerful, flexible and economic alternative to bulk litho printing.
